Man Murders Girlfriend in Alleged Domestic Violence in Akwa Ibom
A shoken incident has enveloped the Qua River Quarters area of Eket in Akwa Ibom State, where a domestic altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend ended in a fatal bloodshed, leaving the woman dead and the man critically injured.
A statement issued by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has it that, the incident occurred at about 10:15 AM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Qua Rivers Quarter area of Eket, Akwa Ibom State.
Report has it that one of the victims neighbours, name withheld, made a phone call, invited the Akwa Ibom State Police Operative to the scene.
In response to the distress call, Akwa Ibom State police operatives arrived at the scene to find both individuals lying helplessly in a pool of blood inside their residential area.

Thereafter, they were rushed to the hospital where the female victim, identified as Ruth Ngozi Sunday was pronounced dead by the doctor in charge, while her boyfriend whose identity is yet to be confirmed is in a very serious critical condition and is currently receiving medical attention.
Moreso, Preliminary investigations has suggested that the duo individuals were involved in a violent altercation that escalated into a knife fight. The police has recovered the suspected murder weapon , which is a kitchen knife from the scene.
“Efforts are ongoing to trace the relatives of the male victim, while the family of the deceased has been contacted,” said DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, in an official press release.
The motive behind the fatal confrontation remains unclear and domant as the boyfriend in question can not alter a word, due to his unrecoverable health status.
However, the police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing, that the hidden secrets will be revealed and made available to the public in due course.
The frightening incident however has sent shockwaves through the city of Eket and provide renewed concerns about the rise in domestic violence and cohabitation-related disputes in Akwa Ibom state, drawing government attention to the ugly situation.
