TINUBU IN ROME AHEAD OF POPE LEO SOLEMN MASS

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has arrived in Rome ahead of the solemn mass to mark the beginning of the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
The president announced this on his social media page yesterday.
President Tinubu was warmly received and hosted a dinner by His Eminence, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State to the Vatican.
President Tinubu stated that their dialogue was marked by the spirit of fraternity and shared vision for the future, focusing on common values, such as peace, respect, and global solidarity.
Tinubu expressed Nigeria’s deep appreciation for the Vatican’s longstanding goodwill and reaffirmed the commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation in an increasingly polarized world.

The president reassured that Nigeria will always remain a nation that is open to friendship, grounded in faith, and committed to building bridges of understanding across the world.
“Upon my arrival in Rome ahead of the solemn Mass marking the beginning of the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, I was warmly received and graciously hosted to dinner by His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State to the Vatican.
Our dialogue was marked by a spirit of fraternity and a shared vision for the future, focusing on common values such as peace, mutual respect, and global solidarity. I expressed Nigeria’s deep appreciation for the Vatican’s longstanding goodwill and reaffirmed our commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation in an increasingly polarized world.
As always, Nigeria remains a nation open to friendship, grounded in faith, and committed to building bridges of understanding across the world.” Tinubu stated.
Recall that the Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, received an invitation a few days ago, inviting him to join the solemn mass in Rome to mark the beginning of the pontificate of His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV.
Pope Leo XIV is the first American pope who succeeded his predecessor, Pope Francisco, after his departure. He emerged as the new pope and the head of the Catholic Church worldwide two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the solemn mass.
